Abstract

Docent of the Armenian State Pedagogical University after Kh. Abovyan's Faculty of Fine Arts of the Chair of Musical Pedagogy Suren S. Shahsuvaryan - “Jubilee of the pedagogue. Dedicated to G. V. Sarajev's 100th anniversary”. The article is dedicated to the honored worker, pianist of Armenia, one of the founders of a piano school in Armenia G. V. Sarajev's 100th anniversary. His connections with major piano artists at the Leningrad Conservatory are illustrated in the article. As well the author touched upon the pianist's pedagogical approaches and raised methodological issues.  

Author Biography

Suren Suren Shahsuvaryan , Abovian Pedagogical University

(born 1950 , Yerevan). He is a pianist, pedagogue, lecturer. In 1963 he ended musical school after A. Spendiaryan , in 1968 CSMS after P. I Tchaikovsky (Prof. G. V. Sarajev's class), in 1973 graduated from YSC then in 1978 the Department of Assistant and Internship (led by G. V Sarajev). He had solo concerts and participated in various concerts, including concerts in the military unit, for which he was awarded with the Diploma of the Spandaryan Region. In 1970 performed with Symphonic Orchestra in the Great Hall of the Armenian Philharmonic Orchestra led by D. Khanjian permorning F. Liszt's first piano concert (two performances). Since 1969 for over 50 years he has been working in pedagogy sphere in Yerevan and in various musical institutions such as CMS after S. Jrbashyan (1969- 1973), in Kapan Musical College (1973-1975), in Armenian State Pedagogical University after Kh. Abovyan (lecturer since 1976), senior lecturer since 1979, since 1985 acting Head of Chair , in 2003 he was elected as docent of the chair, since 2004 with a scientific title. He has as a concertmaster cooperated in various choirs, including the mentioned musical schools, Kapan College, Kh. Abovyan preschool faculty, Yerevan Aesthetics Center, University after Bryusov , Hoktemberyan's national choir (led by E. Danielyan). In 1971 he with the choir after Brusov (led by E. Mirzoyan) performed in Kiev National Television. He has participated in republican and all-union festivals with the choir of Hoktemberyan region, receiving the laureate title (Republican Competition, 1979, 3rd Prize and All-Union Festival, 1980 2nd Prize). He has composed and authored, edit the works of Armenian composers as well did propaganda work for honored artist, composer, pedagogue Gurgen Mirzoyan and composer, pianist Garegin Grigoryan. In 1986 published G. Mirzoyan's compiled and edited Piano Manuals: "Piano Works" (Yerevan, Soviet writer, 1986), "Piano plays for children" and "Children's songs" (Yerevan, Archesh, 2002), G. Grigoryan's "Piano Works" manual (Yerevan, Maku 1996). In 2003 G. Grigoryan's creative heritage was coordinated, as a result of which he manuals were published in 2 versions ("Piano Sonatas", Yerevan, "Archesh"). In addition to the publication of these manuals, Shahsuvaryan has elaborations and arrangements for piano. I. Manukyan's "Lunarium" 4-Hand Piano Transition of Solo Piano Writing (Yerevan, Archesh, 2005), Komitas' One Song and Three Piano Dances are as well included in the manual (compiled by S. Amroyan) (Yerevan, Nahapet, 2006). He has done developing work for J. Sibelius' ''Sad Waltz'' which has been written for an orchestra and editing work for the two pianos (Yer, Lusabats, 2009). With the approval and sponsorship of E. Mirzoyan was released S. Shahsuvaryan's transport and editing for piano the lyric image of "Shushanik" written for the symphonic orchestra (Yerevan, Komitas, 2012). He is a composer and editor of G. Grigorya's "Children's Pictures for Adults" piano series (Yerevan, 2012). Author of two scientific-methodical works ''D. Shostakovich 24 Prelude (Yerevan, Archesh, 2002); G. Mirzoyan "About children's songbooks and piano playbooks" (Yerevan, Archesh, 2002), 2010 //Musical Armenia Journal "Lecturer Memories". By the decision of the Scientific Council of the National Academy of Sciences of Arts and the Composers' Union of Armenia G. Grigoryan's "Pianist and Composer" monograph was released(Yerevan, Science, 2016). Presentation took place in the chamber music house in jubilee concert dedicated to G. Grigoryan (October 30, 2016). The presentation of the book was held on November 22, the same year at the YSC SSA Conference (led by PhD, Prof. A.G. Budaghyan). Since 2013, he has been actively involved in the implementation of the Cultural Education Assistance Foundation's programs: "Methodological and Practical Assistance", "Pedagogues' Training" at the RA regions' CMS and CAS. Particualary from 2016 to 2017 he went to work to Tavush's city Noyemberyan and city Ijevan, Republic of Artsakh's city Stepanakert (also Sayat-Nova Music College)city Shushi and village Togh. He has more than 120 graduates.
