Abstract

PhD candidate, Docent ASPU Knarik ArmenAbrahamian, - “Self-portrait of Komitas in hisepistolary heritage”.The article discusses the personal and artisticfeatures of the great Armenian composer Komitasviewed through his epistolary heritage. The letters referto the period in Komitas' life when he was receiving hiseducation in Europe, serving in Etchmiadzin Seminary,and his creative endeavor in Constantinople.The article also reviews Komitas' correspondencewith Armenian writers (Hovhannes Tumanyan, ArshakChopanyan, and others) and other Armenian and worldintellectuals (i.e., Mariam Tumanyan, MargaritBabayan, Dikran Tchitouni, Oskar Fleischer, MaxSeiffert) for better understanding of the personality ofthe great composer.  

Author Biography

Knarik Armen Abrahamyan, Abovian Pedagogical University

PhD candidate (2013), Docent (2018). Graduated from the faculty of philologyof Armenian State Pedagogical University after Khachatur Abovyan. Dissertation topic: "Zareh Khrakhuni and the Eastern Armenian Poetry".Q. Abrahamyan is the author of one monograph: "Zareh Khrakhuni and the Eastern Armenian Poetry" and of more than thirty researcharticles, namely "About Some Aesthetic Questions of the Novel "Silence" /Issues of the International Conference "Avedis Aharonian",Yerevan, 2017, p. 17-25, "Armenian-Turkish Literary and cultural Relationships: Agop Khachikian and Elif Shafak" /"To the Spring of Light",Panarmenian Conference on Armenian Language and Foreign Language Armenian Writers', Yerevan, 2018, p. 110-118, "From our TeachingExperience of Western Armenian Authors" /"Akunq" Collection of Scientific Articles, Yerevan, 2018, p. 333-341, "Lamartine in the Centersof the 19th Century Armenian Literature" /Issues of "Armenian-French literary-cultural relationships" International Conference, Yerevan, 2019,p. 99-112, "The Poetic Horizon of Igna Sariaslan" /"Haigazian Armenological Review", N39, Beirut, 2019, p. 471-484. She has collected andedited numerous books on Armenian literature of the Diaspora, such as Rober Haddejian "Ceiling" and "The Other Side of Ceiling" (2006),Zareh Khrakhuni "Celebration Bells" and "Calling Festival" (2007 and 2010), Gevorg Achemian "Fiction Works", "Literary Works" and "CriticalWorks" (5 volumes, 2012-2018). K. Abrahamyan's research interests include the Western Armenian literature of classical period and the problems of the Armenian literature of the Diaspora, foreign literature, and Western Armenian language.
