Abstract

The article is dedicated to the 50th anniversary of the Folk Music Cabinet at Komitas YSC. The paper summarizes the results of student folklore expeditions organized and implemented by Komitas Conservatory during half a century. The author discusses the urgency for folklore collecting works, and find it necessary to introduce the students to expeditionary work. The fruitful activity of the conservatory in the field of folklore collecting resulted in the publication of 15 volumes of the series "Armenian Folk Songs and Tunes".

Author Biography

Alina Ashot Pahlevanyan, Yerevan State Conservatory after Komitas

Graduated from the Yerevan State Conservatory with a degree in Musicology and Piano. Later she completed postgraduate studies at the Institute of Arts of the NAS of the RA. A. Pahlevanyan is Professor, has Ph. D. in History of Arts, and holds the title of an Honored Art Worker of Armenia. In 1992-2018 she was the Chair at the Department of Armenian Musical Folklore Studies at the YSC. She has written numerous monographs, textbooks, collections of Armenian folk music, articles on national folklore, and contemporary professional music. Go to p. 25.
