Abstract

Art Historian, Vice President of the International Arno Babajanyan Memorial Foundation for Research Work, Artyom Gerasim Andreasyan. - “Arno Babajanyan's Collected Works”.Wishes regarding a comprehensive publication of the creative legacy of Arno Harutyun Babajanyan - People's Artist of the USSR, laureate of state and international prizes, composer and pianist - have been voiced both on occasion and without, for already four decades. To fully and comprehensively realise this project, the Moscow-based leadership of the "In Memory of Arno Babajanyan "Foundation has long been carrying out extensive preparatory work. This includes the collation of manuscript, printed, and audio sources - a process accompanied by the discovery of previously unknown and presumed lost original texts, the creation of a bibliography and discography, and the undertaking of comprehensive historical and textual studies. The main result of all this is the first multi-volume edition of Babajanyan 's works, which is being presented as a scholarly-critical publication, encompassing all genres of the great composer's creative output in 25 volumes (comprising 30 books). Without distinction, the edition will include all preserved complete works as well as the most significant unfinished ones, many of which will appear in new decipherments and reconstructions. All the original texts will be presented in scientifically verified form, accompanied by brief historical and textological commentary. This large-scale scholarly publishing project is being implemented through the collaboration between the"In Memory of Arno Babajanyan" Foundation and the "Dialogue" Russian-Armenian non-governmental organisation.
