The review aims to introduce a broader readership to a work of encyclopedic significance that provides a concise history of international classical music. This work was prepared by the Armenian-American philologist, literary scholar, bibliographer, and musicologist Hovsep Nalbandian. Such an encyclopedic work is important in contemporary society due to its educational function and its influence on the development of science and culture. It is also significant for promoting research on the history of international classical music. The novelty of the work lies in its comprehensive presentation of the diverse community of composers who have held global significance and fame throughout different historical periods. It also highlights the mutual influences of various cultures on one another at different stages of development of different art forms. This work can serve as a valuable knowledge-based resource for composers, conductors, singers, music educators, students, and others.
