Abstract

The article is dedicated to Samson Gasparyan, musicologist, YSC Rector. The author refers to the archive materials of the music department of the Charents Museum of Literature and Art. The article covers the life and career of the musician and public figure, who was a prominent figure in the musical culture of Armenia: he was the director of the Spendiaryan Music School, the Executive Secretary of the Composers' Union of Armenia, the Director of the Sundukyan Drama Theatre, the Minister of Cinematography of the Armenian SSR, the Deputy Minister of Culture of the Armenian SSR, the Chairman of the Composers' Union of Armenia, the Rector of the Armenian State Pedagogical University. While Conservatory Rector, he was also the Choirmaster of the Students Choir, and a prolific author of articles, reviews, studies and monographs (include about Komitas). Special attention is given to Gasparyan's family and his daughters, Irina and Eleonora, who have also chosen to be musicians.

Tsoghik Tsolak Bekaryan, Museum of Literature and Art After Yeghishe Charents

In 1977 she graduated from the Department of Music at the Yerevan Pedagogical Institute (thesis on "Spiridon Melikyan, Teacher", supervised by Nelly Sahakyan). Since 1978 she has been working as a researcher at the E. Charents Museum of Literature and Art. Since 1990 she is the head of the Music Department at the museum. She is the author of articles in the Concise Armenian Encyclopedia (1990-2003) and a number of publicist articles. She is also the author of the following volumes: “Komitas. The Letters” (2000); “Komitas. The Letters”, Second Expanded Edition (2007); Nikol Galanderian, “Whispers of Hopes and Worries” in 4 volumes, 1995-2000; Nikol Galanderian. “You Have Come Again” Songs Collection. 1999; Nikol Galanderian “Works for Children”, 1999; “A Guide to the Musical Collections of the Charents Museum of Literature and Art”, 2016; Research Editor of “Komitas the Miracle Worker” by Khachik Safaryan, 1999.
