Abstract

In this article, the author presents the talented and highly skilled conductor K. S. Sarajev s teaching and expertise, his creative approach to the basic principles of working with the orchestra, to which many conductors, composers, musicologists refer today, highlighting Professor Armen Budaghyan’s work. The author of the article refers to the achievements of graduates of Sarajev's class Gevorg Budaghyan and Mikael Maluntsyan. Thanks to the efforts of these individuals, as well as those of the generations of other Armenian conductors the Armenian conducting “shkola” (“school”) exists today and the entire field of Armenian performing art testifies to its contribution.

Author Biography

Arusyak Mark Petrosyan, Institute of Arts of the NAS RA

Graduated from the Yerevan State Komitas Conservatory with a degree in Musicology (1979, supervisor M. A. Brutyan, Professor, PhD in History of Art), and com¬pleted her post-graduate studies at the Institute of Arts of the National Academy of Sciences (academic supervisor N. K. Tagmizian, Professor, Dr. Sci. [Arts]). Since 1984, she is a researcher at the Institute of Arts of the NAS of Armenia. She is the author of "Grronty Talalyan" monograph (Yerevan, 1996; Areg Publishing), and around twenty research articles. She has participated in numerous national and interna¬tional conferences in Yerevan, Gyumri, Moscow, and Riga. For nearly 25 years, she has been a lecturer at the Department of History of Music at Yerevan State Komitas Conservatory.
