Gayane Chebotaryan (1918-1998) was a versatile and highly educated composer, an erudite musicologist, and an outstanding teacher. Her works, written at a high artistic and professional level, are marked by national originality and profound content. Polyphony has an important place not only in Chebotaryan's works, but also at the center of her research interests.
Professor Gayane Chebotaryan's active creativity within practical and theoretical aspects of polyphony had a beneficial effect on her pedagogical work as well. During her thirty-three years of teaching, she has educated several generations of Armenian composers and musicologists, and has gained a great reputation in the country and abroad.
