Abstract

The author of the article touched upon the 155th anniversary of Tigran Chukhajyan's First Armenian National Classical Opera Arshak II, created in 1868. The article is written in a very relevant way emphasizing the place and role of opera from the point of view of today with the comments it gives. The author of the article addresses both the composer's life, especially his studies and education, as well as the Armenian center and the European cultural environment, which laid the foundations for the foundation of the National Opera. He created not only opera, but also stage and instrumental music, genres that have passed the composer's curation of singing. The author of the article emphasizes the importance of the existence of the opera professional composer school "Arshak II", which has existed for half a century.

Author Biography

David Garsevan Ghazaryan, Yerevan State Komitas Conservatory

(b. 1939, Yerevan) - Choirmaster, pedagogue, the Honored Art Worker of Armenia (1985). Graduated from Yerevan State Pedagogical Institute (1965) and Yerevan State Conservatory, Department of Choir Conducting (1971). Since 1970 teaches at YSC; professor since 2002. In 1995- 2015 served as Dean, since 2014 - the Advisor to the Rector of the YSC. In 1987-1996 has been the Vice President of the Armenian Musical Society, since 1996 - the President of the AMS. D. Ghazaryan is the author and editor of collections of choir works of Armenian composers, such as "Armenian Choir Music" (1986), "Selected Choruses by Armenian Composers" (2007), "Sacred Songs and Choruses" (2004), "Sacred Taghs, Songs and Solo Songs by Komitas" (2001, 2009), etc. He is the author of numerous articles in the Armenian press. David Ghazaryan has been awarded the medal of "May You Blossom, My Republic" Festival (1985); Movses Khorenatsi Medal (2007), The Medal of the Ministry of Culture of Armenia (2008), The Medal of the Ministry of Education and Science (2009), Medal for Merit to the Fatherland, Second Class (2016).
