Abstract

The article describes the artistic career of Zakar Keshishyan, the conductor of the famous "Varanda" choir from Artsakh and an Honored Art Worker of the Republic of Artsakh. The author speaks about the choirmaster's life and career of 29 years. Keshishian was born in Beirut, but has been living most of his life in his native land - Armenia and Artsakh. The article also describes a concert titled "Bells of Remembrance, Gratitude and Trial..." held on August 25, 2021, at the Youth Palace in Stepanakert. The choir of 89 people performed an extensive program consisting mainly of works by Armenian composers. Works by foreign composers were also performed.

Author Biography

Nina Vladimir Hakobyan, Stepanakert Sayat-Nova Music College

In 1988 graduated with honors from the Department of Music Theory at Stepanakert Sayat Nova Music College. In 1993 graduated from the Yerevan Komitas State Conservatory, Department of Musicology. For over twenty years she is teaching the theory of music in the Stepanakert Music College. In 2012, with the support of the Ministry of Culture of NKR, she published a school book on solfeggio and “Мusical dictations”. In 2013, she participated in the international conference Aram Khachaturian and the Modern World, dedicated to the 110th anniversary of the composer with the report "Children’s Album of A. Khachaturian. Music and Mathematics". In 2014 at the international scientific conference within the framework of the Renaissance Festival she made a report on "World Culture and Armenia. Dialogue of Cultures”. Author of numerous special and journalistic articles in the 1оцал newspaper Azat Artsakh. She takes an part in musical and public activities in NKR. She organizes theoretical quizzes at the music college, reads reports, and also appears on Artsakh TV.
