Abstract

The article refers to the life and work of Khoren Mekanejian, a renowned composer, second choirmaster of the State Academic Cappella of Armenia, Honored Artist of the Republic of Armenia. A detailed study of a fragment of Patarag (the Liturgy) is presented, where non-canonical themes by the composer are used.

Author Biography

Emma Harutyunyan, Komitas State Conservatory of Yerevan

In 2014-2018 she was a student at the Department of Choral Conducting at Babajanyan College of Music in Yerevan. From 2018 she has been studying at Yerevan State Komitas Conservatory, at the Department of Choral Conducting, in professor D. Ghazaryan's class. Since 2018 she has been working as a junior conductor at Stepan Djrbashian Music School in Yerevan. Since 2021 she is the conductor of Luseh Children's Choir.
