Abstract

May 11, 2021 marked the 90th anniversary of the composer, educator, musical-social figure, and simply the wonderful person Yury Aleksander Gevorgyan. The article outlines Gevorgyan's portrait as a composer, public figure and teacher. Alongside with his creative and social activity, for more than 40 years, Yury Aleksander Gevorgyan, was also involved in educational activity. From 1960 to 2002 he taught at Kh. Abovyan Pedagogical Institute (Armenian State Pedagogical University). The composer’s main works are anlysed.

Author Biography

Margarita Eduard Baghdasaryan, ASPU

Graduated from Yerevan Komitas State Conservatory in two specialties: musicologist (supervisor: PhD, Prof. I.G. Tigranov) and choir conductor (supervisor: PhD A. G. Badadov, 1985). She held a large number of thematic concerts, from 1978 to 2012 was a lecturer-musicologist of the Armenian Philharmonia and Philharmonia of a Schoolchild. She has been a pedagogue at the Department of Music at ASPU since 1987, from 2002 to 2012 - Assistant Professor, since 2012 - Associate Professor. From 2011 to 2012, she was Deputy Dean for Science, from 2012 to 2015 - Acting Head of the Department of Music Theory, Teaching Methods and Musical Instruments. She compiled curricula and teaching packages on the history of music (foreign, Russian and XX century, general history of music). Author of numerous publications.
