Abstract
Analysis-portrait: Honorary consul of Serbia in Armenia, writer, translator Babken Avetisi Simonyan writes about pan Armenian composer Petar Oskyan’s life activity. Being a member of Pan Armenian Union, the composer integrated culture life of Yugoslavia. He was a member of the Union of Composers in Serbia. He led active social pedagogical and creative life way. He occupied the position of pro-dean in the department of Musical Art. His symphonic “Poem” due to which he became a very popular composer, was awarded by prize “Stevan Christich” in 1959. His famous works are “Orchestra Concert” (1947), Concert for piano and orchestra (1952), Suit for flute and stringed instruments (1953), Sonata (1955) Variations (1956) for piano, Symphony for stringed instruments (1958), “Deliberation” for two pianos, stringed and drums instruments (1962). Balanced thinking, technical perfection, dew of musical ideas are the characteristic features of the composer’s creative talent.His works in various genres, sounded in the Yugoslavian radio stations, brought him great recognition. Petar Oskyan led active public activity. He was involved in music criticism, collaborated in the most authoritative newspaper "Politika", “Pro-Musica” journal of Belgrade,where his professional articles and comments, concerning the new works of the Yugoslavia’s musicians were published.
