Abstract

This article is dedicated to the musical-pedagogical views of Professor of the Tchaikovsky Moscow State Conservatory, Artist of Armenia, Yuri S. Hayrapetyan - the principal custodian of the traditions of the piano school of Yakov Flier at the Moscow Conservatory of nowadays. The essay is based on a dissertation study about the interaction of piano schools within the context of Russian-Armenian musical connections and is part of a series of publications including the following articles: "The Basics of Analytical Score Reading in the Pedagogy of Yuri S. Hayrapetyan," "The Piano Concerto in the Pedagogical Conceptof Yuri S. Hayrapetyan," "Polyphony in the Pedagogy of Yuri S. Hayrapetyan".

Author Biography

Armen Volodya Manasyan, Tchaikovsky Moscow State Conservatory

born on July 22, 1988, in Yerevan) is a pianist and producer, Executive Director of the "ArtConcept" International Association for Performing Arts, and Chief Producer of the Armenian State Philharmonic since 2021. He graduated from the Piano Department of Yerevan Komitas State Conservatory with a bachelor's degree in 2009 and a master'sdegree in 2011 (class of Prof. S. K. Kechek), and pursued postgraduate studies at Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatory (supervisor:Prof Y. S. Hayrapetyan). He is currently a doctoral candidate in musicology (supervisor: Prof. E. B. Dolinskaya). Manasyan hasperformed in major international projects and festivals such as "Ennio Porrino", "Barbizon Festival", "Yakov Flier Festival", "Year of Armenian Culture in France", International Festival "Komitas-140", and "Yamaha Artists" program. Since 2016, he has been a guest soloist at Moscow State Academic Music Theater. During his studies, he worked at the Organizational Committee of the 6th International Delphic Games as a responsible person for musical nominations. Meantime, he led cultural and humanitarian programs at theAcademy of Arts affiliated to the Department of Culture of Moscow (2013-2016). He is a founding board member of the NGO "Union of Young Armenian Composers and Performers" and an artist with the French music agency "L'Heure Musicale au Marais" since 2017. His recordings include Tchaikovsky's "The Seasons" (CBN productions), Piano Works by Komitas and Liszt (BirlMusic studio, JeanEckian production) in 2009, 201,2, and 2016 respectively. One of the few recordings with Manasyan's participation is the performanceof L. Van Beethoven's "Fantasy" for piano, orchestra, and choir, Op. 80, at Yerevan National Academic Theater of Opera and Ballet(conductor: K. Orbelyan). He is the author of the English and German translations and publication of the distinguished composer and pedagogue Gagik Hovunts' work "Reflections on Harmony", accomplished in collaboration with the Narekatsi Art Union. He has also authored around 10 scholarly articles and received multiple awards, including the IBLA Grand Prize (Italy, 2012), RA Presidential Award (Yerevan, 2011), FLAME International Competition (Paris, 2006), and several honors from the Gulbenkian Foundation and YSC (2005-2008), as well as the A. Babajanyan Youth Piano Competition (2003).
