Abstract

Dr. Sc. of Musicology, Prof. of Yerevan State Conservatory after Komitas Svetlana Koryun Sarkisyan.- “A personality unique in its kind”.The article by Professor of the Yerevan Komitas State Conservatory S.K. Sarkisyan is dedicated to the memory of the outstanding Moscow musicologist, Honored Art Worker of the Russian Federation, long-time editor-in-chief of the leading scientific-theoretical and critical-publicistic magazine Soviet music / Musical academyYuri Semyonovich Korev (1928-2024). Korev headed the team editorial staff for 42 years - from 1970 to 2012, later retaining the functions of a consultant in the magazine. Broad erudition, the ability to evaluate progress in repair and scientific achievements, understanding of artistic processes in the country and abroad, in light of their innovativeness for modern society, as well as the personal qualities of the leader Korev, created a unique figure in the Soviet and post-Soviet space. The article examines Korev’s connection with Armenia and Armenian culture in the period accessible to individual memories of the author. In particular, his visits to Yerevan in 1986 were for discussing the problems of effective propaganda of modern Armenian music. Then in 1997and 2003, for participation in international conferences organized by the Union of Composers of Armenia.Finally, the preparation of a magazine with an expanded special section "Musical Armenia" in 2005, which collected articles and materials of musicologists and composers of Armenia on various matters of musical creativity and musical performance
