“The opera art of Gevorg Armenyan”

Abstract

The article presents the opera art of composer, People's Artist of the Armenia Gåvorg Armenyan. Separating the operas from the composer's repertoire, the author dwells on the history of their creation, the chosen theme, the content's barriers to the idea (in particular, the opera based on L. Shant's "Old Gods") and the staging. Of the three operas, the opera "Sinking" based on the drama of Araksmanyan "Blood of Roses" was analyzed in detail, since it summarizes the obvious manifestations of the preservation of the traditions of the genre and the desire for new creative searches.
