Abstract

The article provides an overview of the evolution of the process of documenting, preserving, and publishing Armenian folk songs and music from the 19th to the 21st centuries, with qualitative, technical and scientific advancements in the Armenian reality.

Author Biography

Anahit Artavazd Kirakosyan, Komitas State Conservatory of Yerevan

Music ethnographer. She graduated from Yerevan Komitas State Conservatory (class of Prof. M. A. Brutyan), Associate Professor at the Department of Armenian Music Folklore Studies. She teaches Armenian Folk Music, Performing Art and conducts a class on Music Folklore. She is author of the following books: "A selection of Folk and Ashugh Songs from Feria Province, Isfahan Region, Iran" (Pasadena, USA.. 1996); "Hovhannes Darbinyan - Choirmaster and Tarist" (Yerevan, 2000); "Margarit Brutyan. Materials for Biobibliography" (Yerevan, 2007); "Armenian Duduk Players" (in Duduk Album. Yerevan, 2007); "Arzas Voskanyan and the Armenian Singing School" (Yerevan, 2008); "Armenian Folk Musical Instruments" (co-author A. Baghdasaryan. Yerevan, 2008); "Armenian Folk Music-Performing Art" (Yerevan, 2011); "Folk Music and Instruments" in "Peoples and Cultures: Armenians" (co-authors K. Khudabashyan and A. Baghdasaryan. Moscow, 2011)."Armenian Folk Music Instruments" (manual for schoolchildren), "Amrots Group", Yerevan, 2022. Anahit Kirakosyan is also author of around twenty articles related to folklore studies, musical instruments, ashugh music, as well as reviews, analytical, biographical andbibliographi- cal materials published in a number of journals, as well as more than fifty newspaper articles.
