Lilit Vardges Yernjakyan, Institute of Art, National Academy of Sciences of Armenia; Yerevan State Conservatory after Komitas

In 1973 L. Yernjakyan has graduated from the Department of Theory and Composition at the YSC (Prof. R. Atayan’s class). In 1976-1980 she took a postgraduate course at the Institute of Arts of the Academy of Sciences of Armenia under the guidance of T. Vyzgo, Doctor of Arts and prof. R. Atayan, Ph.D. in Arts). In 1982 she completed her Ph.D. thesis on The Art of Mughamat within the Scope of Armenian-Iranian Musical Relations. Since 1980 she is working at the Institute of Arts of the NAS of Armenia, and since 1982 - at the Department of Armenian Folk Music at the YSC. Since 1985 L. Yernjakyan is a member of the Union of Composers of Armenia and a member of its Board since 2013. In 2004 she defended her doctoral dissertation entitled The Ashugh Lyrical Tales in the Context of the Armenian-Eastern Musical Relationships. In 2008 Yernjakyan was awarded the Prize of the NAS of the Republic of Armenia and in 2013 she received the title of the Honored Art Worker of the RA. Since 2015 she is a member of the International Council for Traditional Music (ICTM) and since 2017 a Corresponding Member of the Ararat International Academy in Paris. Since 2018 she is the Chair of the Board of Directors of the Yerevan State Conservatory. L. Yernjakyan is the author of numerous research works, such as From the History of Armenian-Iranian Musical Relations, Yerevan, 1991; Hymn to the Sun, the Genre of Sahari in Armenian Musical Culture (co-authored with R. Pikichyan), Yerevan, 1998; Ashugh Love Romance in the Context of Neareastern Musical Interrelations, Yerevan., 2009; The Music of Alan Hovhannes at East-West Cultural Crossroads, Yerevan, 2015.
