Khachatur Avetisyan

Abstract

The author presents the creative activity and life path of outstanding composer Khachatur Mekhak Avetisyan. The auther of article mentioned his significant works in various genres, ranging from the genre of pieser to concert, here it should be stated that he composed the 1st concerto for folk instrument (qanun) and orchestra. It is stated by the author of the article that Avetisyan was the one who started the qanun playing style of Armenian performing art, which soon became popular. His works are still being performed by the best qanun players of the Republic, whose names are mentioned in the article. In 1977, he founded the Folk Instruments Chair and Department of YSC.
