Following the footsteps of the canto "Krunk"

Abstract

Wanderer songs (cantos) hold a special place in Armenian folk music. Since ancient times, they have been close to the hearts of the Armenian people, in which grief and suffering, love and longing for their native land were expressed. The tagh "Krunk" ("Crane") occupies a prominent place in medieval wanderer songs. The free improvisational narration of the latter and the smooth melody in an improvisational form, represent the features of the genre, which embodies an emotional, tragic story that reveals the inner agitation of the author. Thus, the tagh "Krunk" is a work of authorship in all its characteristics. With his high poetic skill and deep emotionality, with rich musical expressiveness, tagh remains the bearer of the inner experience of a wanderer. The article makes the assumption that the tagh "Krunk" bears a certain relationship not only to peasant, urban, but also to spiritual medieval songwriting, taking into account its modal intonation features.
