Abstract

The article is dedicated to the memory of the composer, Honored Artist of the RA, Chairman of the Armenian Musical Assembly, professor of the Yerevan State Conservatory named after Komitas Levon Chaushyan (1946-2022). The author notes that Levon Chaushyan was highly valued by the music community, and was widely known in art circles. He was awarded Movses Khorenatsi medal, won a number of music competitions, and was a prominent figure of international festivals. He was awarded the Gold Medals of the Ministry of Culture of Armenia and Yerevan Municipality. His authority as a personality, as a professional, has always remained at the highest level. His dedication to maintaining the traditions of the Composition Department at Yerevan Conservatory, where he taught as a Professor, will surely be remembered and carried on by his colleagues and students in the future."

Author Biography

Margarita Ashot Rukhyan

In 1962 she graduated from Theory and Composition Faculty of YSC. After graduation she worked as a musical editor in the musical editorial office of Armenian Television. She is author of several documentaries. She took a postgraduate course at the All-Union Institute of Art Studies in Moscow (supervisor: Dr. of Arts V. A. Vasina-Grossman, 1965-1968). Since 1968 she has been a researcher at the Department of Music of NAS RA. PhD in Art Studies (1971). Laureate of the All-Union Musicology Competition named after B. V. Asafyev (for the book "The Armenian Symphony: Research Essays", 1982). Doctor of Art Studies (2005). Since 2005 has been a researcher at the Institute of Arts NAN RA. She is author of monographs: "The Armenian Symphony. Research Essays", Yerevan, AS of SSR of Armenia, 1980 - 115p.; "Avet Terteryan: Life and Work", Yerevan: NAIRI., 2002, 246 p.; "Portraits of the Armenian Composers." Yerevan: NAIRI, 2009, 234 p.; "Vardan Ajemian's Theatre of Sound", Yerevan: Amrots group, 2015, 86p.. She is author of about 100 scientific works on problems of modern Armenian music published in journals and collections of scientific works, and more than 300 articles published in the republican press. Since 1972 she has been member of CU of Armenia. Since 1995 she has been member of the Armenian Musical Assembly. In 2008 she was awarded a gold medal of the Ministry of Culture of RA. In 2011 she was awarded the title of Honored Artist of the RA.
